Hormuz Traffic Falls Below 20 Ships Amid Blockades

The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow sea route used by ships carrying energy supplies.

Fewer than 20 commodity ships crossed it during the reported weekend.

Kpler counted 13 ships on Saturday and four on Sunday.

Some ships turned off tracking devices, so the numbers may change.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency said traffic was about 90% lower than before the conflict.

Ships have been changing plans or using routes farther north after attacks.

Tankers made up 45% of the traffic recorded during the week.

Another nearby route, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, also saw fewer ships on Sunday than on Saturday.
