Rural Nashik, Pune report most severe road accidents
India has a big problem with road accidents.
A new report says that Nashik Rural and Pune Rural in Maharashtra have the most serious accidents.
Many people die on the roads, and most of these deaths happen in specific places.
The report says that bad road design and not following traffic rules are big reasons for these accidents.
The government needs to fix these problems to make roads safer.
They should focus on the worst spots and make sure there are enough ambulances and police to help.
The report also says that India has the most road deaths in the world, so it's very important to make changes.
Nashik Rural and Pune Rural in Maharashtra are ranked as the top districts for severe road accident fatalities in India.
59% of road accident fatalities do not involve any traffic violation, highlighting road engineering as a major factor.
53% of deaths occur between 6 PM and 12 AM, with only 20% of victims using the government's 108 ambulance service.
89,085 people died in the top 100 districts alone during 2023 and 2024, accounting for over a quarter of all road accident deaths in India.
The report recommends focusing on critical locations, improving road engineering, and better coordination among police, hospitals, and road agencies to reduce fatalities.
