Survey Begins for Pranahita-Chevella Barrage DPR
Work has started to study and plan for a big dam called the Pranahita-Chevella barrage in Telangana.
Officials are checking the river and land to make a detailed report.
They want to use this dam to send water to another project called Kaleshwaram.
The dam will be taller than before, and it will help farm 1.40 lakh acres of land.
People in the area are happy because this project has been waiting for a long time.
The water will go to a place called Sundilla first, then to Yellampalli, because coal mines are in the way.
The project will cost a lot of money, and officials need to talk to Maharashtra about some changes.
Survey and investigation work has begun for the DPR of the Pranahita-Chevella barrage in Kautala mandal, Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.
Aarvee Associates, along with irrigation department officials, is conducting the survey to examine water levels and submergence areas.
The proposed barrage height is 150 meters, up from the previous 148 meters, which may require fresh talks with Maharashtra.
Water from the barrage will be channeled to the Sundilla barrage of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) and then to the Yellampalli irrigation project.
Proposals for creating an ayacut of 1.40 lakh acres at a cost of ₹2,798 crore have been sent for approval.
