Former MLA Demands Repeal of Forest Act Sections
A former politician, Kumaraswamy, wants the government to change a forest law.
He says this law is making life hard for people in a region called Malnad because it's taking away land and making it difficult for people to get legal ownership of their homes.
The law also requires villagers to provide documents they often don't have, causing them problems.
He believes this is unfair and wants the government to fix it, or people will protest.
Former MLA Kumaraswamy urges the state government to repeal Sections 4 and 17 of the Karnataka Forest Act.
He argues the act disrupts the peace of Malnad villagers by reducing revenue land.
Section 4 causes farmers to provide home documentation, which many lack.
Farmers applying under forms 53 and 57 are unable to obtain title deeds.
Kumaraswamy warns of protests if the sections are not repealed.
