Two Women Sharing a Name Die After Snakebites in Bengal

Two people named Dipika Majhi died in separate suspected snakebite incidents in Bengal.

One was a seven-year-old girl in Sardanga village.

The other was a 32-year-old woman in Kanpur village.

Both incidents happened while the victims were sleeping.

Health officials think banded kraits may have been involved.

The woman became sick and began vomiting in the morning.

A different child was bitten by a snake at a Kolkata school.

That child was taken quickly to hospital and received treatment.

Doctors confirmed that the Kolkata child had a snakebite and tested the child’s blood for venom.
