Guinea Iron Ore Mine Halts Operations After Fatal Accident
Imagine a big mining project in Guinea, where companies are digging up iron ore.
Sadly, there was a bad accident at one of the mines, and three workers died.
The company in charge, called WCS, immediately stopped all work to figure out what happened and make sure it's safe to work there again.
WCS is working on a huge project with other companies like Rio Tinto and Chinalco, and they were about to start shipping the iron ore.
The government hopes this mining will help make Guinea a wealthier country.
This is the second stoppage because of a death on-site.
Hopefully, they will start up again when safety can be assured.
WCS suspended operations at its Kerouane mine following an accident.
Three foreign employees died in the accident.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The Simandou iron ore project is scheduled to export its first shipment next month.
Operations will resume after safety conditions are guaranteed.
