Delhi HC Protects Tesla from Trademark Infringement
Tesla, the electric car company owned by Elon Musk, went to court in India to stop another company called Tesla Power from using its name.
The court said Tesla Power can't use Tesla's name or logo on its products, like batteries and e-scooters.
Tesla Power said it doesn't make electric cars, but Tesla said people were getting confused.
Tesla has opened two showrooms in India and sold some cars there.
The court also said Tesla Power has to take down Tesla's name from e-scooters it sold.
Both companies tried to solve the problem without going to court, but it didn't work.
Delhi High Court granted interim protection to Tesla Inc. against Tesla Power India Pvt. Ltd. for trademark infringement.
Tesla Power is barred from using Tesla Inc.'s trademarks, logos, or any related branding on its products.
The court order affects products like batteries, inverters, UPS systems, and e-scooters.
Tesla Power admitted to selling 699 e-scooters with Tesla branding but claims it doesn't manufacture EVs.
Tesla Inc. has opened two showrooms in India and sold 104 units as of October 2024.
