Kolkata Metro Upgrades Propulsion System
The Kolkata Metro, which is the first underground Metro in India, is working with experts from IIT Kharagpur to make its trains better.
They have successfully tested a new technology called the DC-DC Chopper Project.
This technology will make the trains lighter and give passengers a smoother ride without any jerks.
The Metro has 13 trains that will use this new technology.
These trains will also use less energy because they can make their own electricity when they brake.
This is the first time this technology is being used in any Metro system in India.
It was made completely in India.
Kolkata Metro Railway collaborated with IIT Kharagpur to develop an upgraded propulsion system for smoother rides.
Successful field testing of the DC-DC Chopper Project was conducted last Saturday.
The new technology will make the trains lighter and more energy-efficient by generating electricity during braking.
13 ICF rakes with BHEL propulsion on the Blue Line will be upgraded with this technology.
The technology is 100% indigenous and will be used for the first time in any Indian Metro System.
