Ras Al Khaimah Signs Deal to Test Flying Cars

Ras Al Khaimah has made a deal with a Chinese company called Aridge to test flying cars.

The tests will happen in a controlled area called a regulatory sandbox.

This lets officials study the aircraft before making wider rules for the industry.

Aridge will test its aircraft in desert conditions and different flight situations.

Officials will also examine navigation, airspace coordination and passenger safety.

The project may eventually support flights between Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah.

Driving between the two emirates currently takes about 90 minutes.

Aridge showed its modular flying car, called the Land Aircraft Carrier, during an event in Abu Dhabi.

The information collected will help the UAE develop rules for advanced air transport.
