UP Prepares for Census 2027
Uttar Pradesh is getting ready for the Census 2027, which will happen in two parts.
The first part, called the House-listing and Housing Census, will start in April 2026 and go until September 2026.
The second part, called the Population Enumeration, will happen in February 2027.
The government is training a lot of people, called enumerators, to go door-to-door and collect information about houses and people.
This is the first time the census will be digital, and people can even fill out their own information.
The last census was in 2011, and this time, more enumerators are needed because the population has grown.
There will also be a caste census, but the questions for that are not yet announced.
In Uttar Pradesh, the House-listing phase will be from May 22 to June 20, 2026.
Uttar Pradesh is training 5.5 lakh enumerators for Census 2027.
The census will be conducted in two phases: House-listing in 2026 and Population Enumeration in 2027.
Enumerators will use mobile apps for the first digital census in India.
A pre-test of the House-listing phase was conducted in selected areas.
Citizens will have the option for self-enumeration for the first time.
