Gujarat Samachar Republishes Editorial, Lacking Credit to Hindi Source
Imagine a newspaper's most important opinion piece, like its voice.
The Gujarati newspaper 'Gujarat Samachar' printed an editorial almost exactly like one from another newspaper, Business Standard.
They didn't say they copied it, which is like pretending your idea is yours.
The original editorial was about India's achievements and challenges, but the copied one also criticized a political party.
The other newspaper said they did not give permission for this.
It's like using someone else's homework without giving them credit.
Gujarat Samachar published an editorial on August 18th that was nearly identical to a piece from Business Standard's Hindi edition.
The editorial, titled "Challenges Before the Nation" in Gujarat Samachar, lacked any attribution to Business Standard.
Business Standard's editorial, "On the 79th Independence Day: India’s Achievements and Challenges, the Need for Strong Institutions," appeared four days prior.
The Gujarat Samachar version included a critical commentary on the BJP, which was not present in the original.
Business Standard confirmed no agreement existed for Gujarat Samachar to reprint the content.
