Odisha Allocates Rs 311 Crore to Expand Cancer Care

Odisha is setting aside Rs 311 crore to improve cancer care.

The money will help with finding cancer earlier and providing more treatment.

Every one of the state’s 32 districts now has a centre where patients can receive chemotherapy during the day.

These centres have already provided more than 35,000 chemotherapy cycles.

The government has also created 91 health packages to make cancer treatment less expensive for families.

More than 1.5 crore women have been checked for breast, cervical and oral cancers.

Odisha is also taking part in a national HPV vaccination programme for young girls.

Officials want private companies and charities to help bring screening and treatment to rural and remote areas.
