NAMASTE Abhiyan: Mumbai Railway Cracks Down on Ticketless Travel
Imagine train ticket checkers got new tools to do their jobs fairly.
That's the NAMASTE Abhiyan!
It's like a special plan to make sure everyone has a ticket and to treat everyone with respect.
Over 5,000 people without tickets were found in one day, and they had to pay a fine.
The ticket checkers now have vests with cameras, so everyone can see they are doing the right thing.
There are also special waiting areas for those without tickets, and the ticket checkers learned how to talk to people nicely.
This is all to make sure things are fair for both the ticket checkers and the people traveling.
NAMASTE Abhiyan, a ticket-checking initiative, was launched by Western Railway's Mumbai Central Division.
Over 5,200 ticketless travelers were detected in a single day at Borivali station.
Rs 13.50 lakh was collected as a penalty from the ticketless travelers.
The Abhiyan aims to enhance passenger experience and protect ticket checking staff.
The initiative includes protective vests for TTEs, pre-custody areas, and communication workshops.
