Bombay High Court Quashes FIR Against Zepto Employees
The Bombay High Court has decided to cancel a police report (FIR) that was filed against six employees of a company called Geddit Convenience Pvt.
Ltd., which works with Zepto.
A former female employee had accused these six colleagues of misbehaving with her at work.
She said they used bad language and touched her inappropriately.
The police had charged the employees under certain laws related to harassment.
However, the court looked into the matter and found that the meeting where the alleged misconduct happened was actually about the complainant's poor performance at work.
The court also noticed that the woman did not sign her statement during the company's internal investigation and did not approach the Internal Complaints Committee.
Instead, she filed the police report four months after she was fired.
The court believed she did this to get back at the company and her colleagues.
Therefore, the court decided to cancel the police report to prevent any unfair treatment of the accused employees.
The Bombay High Court quashed an FIR against six employees of Geddit Convenience Pvt. Ltd., a Zepto licensee, finding it was filed out of vengeance after the complainant's termination.
The complainant accused six colleagues of misbehaving, using foul language, and inappropriate touching during a meeting.
The court found inconsistencies in the complainant's statements and relied on an internal inquiry that concluded the meeting was about poor performance.
The complainant declined to sign her statement during the inquiry and did not approach the Internal Complaints Committee.
The FIR was lodged four months after the complainant's termination, leading the court to conclude it was an act of vengeance.
