UPI Payment System Expands to Japan
Indian travelers will soon be able to use their UPI apps to pay for things in Japan.
This means they won't need to carry yen or use forex cards.
The trial starts in April 2026 and will last until March 2027.
Indian travelers can use their UPI apps at selected places like restaurants and stores.
This makes paying for things easier and cheaper.
UPI was started in 2016 to make digital payments easier.
It is already used in eight other countries.
This new partnership between NPCI and NTT Data will make traveling to Japan more convenient for Indians.
