NSE Debuts With 1.9% Gain as Brokerages See Upside

The National Stock Exchange sold shares to the public and began trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Its shares opened at Rs 1,800, slightly above the offer price of Rs 1,785.

During the day, the price climbed as high as Rs 1,878.

It finished the day at Rs 1,818, which was 1.9% higher than the offer price.

Three brokerages said the stock could rise further.

Their price targets suggested possible gains of about 9% to 15%.

They liked NSE’s large share of trading in several markets.

One brokerage also warned that NSE’s share of index-options trading has fallen and that new rules could reduce future growth.
