US Tightens Visa Rules, Requires More Interviews
Starting September 2, 2025, the US is changing visa interview rules.
Most people applying for visas will now need an interview, even kids and seniors.
However, some, like those with specific diplomatic visas, might not.
If your B-1/B-2 visa expired less than a year ago, you might be able to skip the interview, but there's no guarantee.
Officials can still make you interview, which could cause more waiting.
US updates its non-immigrant visa interview waiver program effective September 2, 2025.
Most non-immigrant visa applicants will require interviews.
Exceptions include applicants under 14, over 79, and those with specific diplomatic visas.
B-1/B-2 visa renewals within 12 months of expiration may qualify for waivers.
Consular officers retain discretion to require interviews even with waivers.
