India and China Begin Implementing Eight-Point LAC Consensus

India and China Begin Implementing Eight-Point LAC Consensus

India and China have a disagreement about where their border should be.

Their officials recently held a meeting to discuss ways to manage the disagreement peacefully.

They agreed on eight areas of cooperation, but still need to decide exactly how to carry them out.

The plans include better communication between soldiers near the border.

They also include new military meeting points and hotline channels.

The countries want to improve border trade and cooperation over pilgrimages.

China agreed to increase the number of groups allowed to join the Kailash-Manasarovar Yatra.

The two sides will continue their talks and meet again in India in 2027.
