Atharv Singh Advocates for Stronger Policy Institutions
Atharv Singh, a young student and founder of several organizations, attended an important event in Chicago where he met former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
This event made him realize how important these gatherings are for making good policies and keeping democracies strong.
He believes that think tanks and similar groups help by doing research, bringing people together, and making sure that policies are based on good information.
However, these groups face challenges like not having enough money and people not trusting them.
Singh thinks India needs to improve its own policy institutions to meet its future goals.
He plans to launch a new organization called the Council on Legislative Research in India (CLRI) to help with this.
Atharv Singh attended the Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ Global Leadership Awards Dinner, where he interacted with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Singh highlighted the importance of policy convenings and institutions in strengthening modern democracies by facilitating policy development and norm-setting.
Think tanks and research collaboratives play a crucial role in providing long-term analyses and actionable policy pathways, acting as stabilizers in democratic reasoning.
These institutions face challenges such as inconsistent funding, eroded public trust, and the impact of digital misinformation.
Singh plans to launch the Council on Legislative Research in India (CLRI) in June 2025 to strengthen evidence-based policymaking in India.
