SC to revisit BrahMos espionage case acquittal
The Supreme Court of India is going to look at a case about a man named Nishant Agarwal who used to work for a company called BrahMos Aerospace.
He was accused of spying for Pakistan and was sentenced to life in prison.
But a higher court said he was not guilty of spying but only of keeping secret information he shouldn't have.
Now, the police are asking the Supreme Court to look at this decision again.
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case and will make a decision later.
The Supreme Court will review the Bombay High Court's decision to acquit Nishant Agarwal of espionage charges.
Agarwal was initially sentenced to life imprisonment by a Nagpur district court for spying for Pakistan's ISI.
The Bombay High Court found Agarwal guilty only of illegally storing sensitive data.
Agarwal was accused of leaking sensitive technical information to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing for August 31, 2026.
