SEBI Eases IPO Rules, Alters Anchor Investor Allocations
SEBI, India's market regulator, made changes to IPO rules to make it easier for large companies to list.
For companies with a market value over a certain amount, they've adjusted the minimum amount of stock that must be offered to the public.
SEBI also revised how anchor investors are treated, and increased the portion of shares reserved for anchor investors.
Insurance companies and pension funds are now also included.
The goal is to help companies list, encourage more investors to join the market, and allow more flexibility for large investments.
SEBI revised minimum public shareholding (MPS) norms for companies with high market capitalization.
Companies with a market cap above ₹5 Lakh Cr must now have a minimum public offer (MPO) of ₹15,000 Cr and at least 1% of their post-issue m-cap.
Anchor investor allocation categories have been merged into one.
Insurance companies and pension funds are now included in the anchor investor category.
The overall anchor reservation has been increased from one-third to 40%.
