Charges Against Five Stanford Protesters Set for Dismissal

Charges Against Five Stanford Protesters Set for Dismissal

Five current and former Stanford students were charged after a pro-Palestinian protest in 2024.

Protesters barricaded themselves inside the university president’s office, and Stanford said the building suffered extensive damage.

Prosecutors said at least one person entered by breaking a window.

A jury could not agree on a verdict, so the judge declared a mistrial.

The local district attorney wanted another trial.

Defense lawyers argued that his office should no longer handle the case.

The California attorney general’s office then took over.

The charges will be dismissed if the five defendants complete community service and pay Stanford about $52,000.
