RBI Urges Support for MSMEs, Cites TReDS and Lending
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) wants to help small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in India.
They're suggesting that MSMEs use a system called TReDS to get paid faster.
RBI also wants banks to use better ways to decide if MSMEs can borrow money and to be fair when lending.
The RBI is working on new ways to help MSMEs with data and cash-flow based lending.
Other MSME groups also talked about problems from trade disputes and asked for help from the government and banks.
RBI emphasized the need to support stressed but viable MSMEs.
Greater adoption of Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) is suggested.
Alternative credit assessment models and fair lending practices are needed.
RBI is committed to strengthening the credit ecosystem for MSMEs.
