Notices issued to Bharati Cement over limestone leases
The state government has sent notices to Bharati Cement Corporation Limited, where Y S Bharati, the wife of a former chief minister, is a director.
The notices are about two limestone mining leases that were given to the company without following the rules.
The rules say that such leases should be given through an auction, but the previous government gave them directly.
The current government is now checking all such leases and may take more action based on the company's response.
Similar notices were also sent to other cement companies for similar issues.
The state government issued show-cause notices to Bharati Cement Corporation Limited over two limestone mining leases.
The leases were granted in violation of central guidelines requiring auction-based allocation for major minerals like limestone.
The leases were originally applied for by Raghuram Cements Limited in 2008 and later transferred to Bharati Cement without formal disclosure.
The present NDA government is reviewing all such leases granted in deviation of Central law.
Similar notices were issued to ACC Cement and Ramco Cement for leases granted through the application route despite the statutory requirement of auction.
