India's Capex Surge and Disinvestment Plans
The Indian government and big companies have spent a lot of money on building and improving things like power plants, roads, and trains.
They have already spent more than half of what they planned to spend for the whole year.
The government is also selling small parts of some companies to raise money.
This helps them make more money and improve their businesses.
The government is doing this because they need more money, and selling parts of companies is a good way to get it.
It also helps make these companies more accountable and improves how they are run.
However, the government needs to be careful and do this at the right time to get the best results.
60 CPSEs and 4 government entities spent 64% of their FY26 Capex target in 8 months.
Total Capex for FY26 is ₹7.85 lakh crore, with ₹5 lakh crore spent by November 2025.
NTPC exceeded its ₹26,000 crore target, spending ₹26,600 crore.
Power Grid spent 84% of its target, Railway Board 65%, and NHAI 70%.
Private sector Capex intentions declined by 25% for FY26 compared to FY25.
