Swan Defence Secures $227M Chemical Tanker Order
Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Ltd (SDHI) has won a big contract to build six chemical tankers for a European company.
The deal is worth $227 million and could grow to 12 ships.
These tankers will be built at SDHI's shipyard in Gujarat, India.
The first ship will be ready in about 2.5 years.
The tankers are special because they can use different types of fuel and are built to handle icy waters.
This is a big deal for SDHI because it's their first big order since they took over the shipyard.
Both companies are happy because it shows that Indian shipyards can build high-quality ships.
Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Ltd (SDHI) secured a $227 million contract to build six chemical tankers for European shipowner Rederiet Stenersen AS.
The contract includes an option for an additional six vessels, making the potential total 12.

Each tanker will be 18,000 DWT, 150 meters long, and 23 meters wide, with dual-fuel LNG-ready hybrid propulsion and Ice Class 1A standards.
