PMML Launches Digital Archives for Rare Collections
The Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library in India has started a big project to turn its old and important papers into digital copies.
This includes letters, speeches, and diaries from many important people.
Now, researchers can ask to see these papers online instead of going to the library.
This helps keep the old papers safe and makes it easier for people to study them.
The library's director says this is a great way to help people learn more about India's history.
The project is part of a larger effort to make historical documents more accessible, following a similar initiative by the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund.
PMML is digitizing its rare archival collection, including personal papers and speeches.
The project aims to preserve fragile documents and enable remote access for researchers.
A dedicated IT platform allows registered scholars to request and view archival materials online.
Over 25 million documents from more than 1,300 individuals and organizations are part of the collection.
The initiative reflects PMML's commitment to promoting high-quality research and accessibility.
