Delhi Orders Park Safety Audits After Ashta Kunj Gangrape

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped at Ashta Kunj Park in southeast Delhi.

Police arrested three men in connection with the case.

Police said one accused, Asif, was injured in the leg during an encounter.

After the incident, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu ordered safety checks at every park in Delhi.

The checks must be completed within one week.

Officials will examine lighting, guards, patrols, cleanliness and sanitation.

Police will increase beat patrols and send Pink Police personnel around parks.

Authorities will also seek feedback from nearby schools and colleges and explore involving resident groups or private organizations in park maintenance.
