Odisha CM promises 15 lakh hectares irrigation in 3 years
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, promised that 15 lakh hectares of land will be irrigated in the next three years.
He made this announcement while talking to farmers in Keonjhar, his home district.
The government is giving farmers a bonus of Rs 800 for each quintal of paddy they sell, which is much more than the previous government's promise of Rs 100.
Last year, the government gave Rs 7,000 crore in subsidies to about 20 lakh farmers.
This year, even more farmers are expected to get help.
The Chief Minister also said that a new irrigation project called Kanpur will start soon.
He wants farmers to grow different crops like pulses and millet, not just paddy, and the government will give them extra money to do this.
He also warned officials to be fair when buying paddy from farmers.
