Koregaon Bhima panel seeks letter details
A special commission in Maharashtra, India, is looking into a violent event that happened in Koregaon Bhima in 2018.
A leader named Prakash Ambedkar asked the commission to look at a letter that another leader, Sharad Pawar, supposedly gave to the then chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray.
This letter talked about a plan behind the violence.
Uddhav Thackeray said he doesn't have the letter and suggested asking the current chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, for it.
The commission has now asked the state's top official to find out more about this letter.
The Koregaon Bhima Commission of Inquiry has asked the Maharashtra Chief Secretary to provide information about a letter sought by Prakash Ambedkar.
Prakash Ambedkar claimed that Sharad Pawar gave a letter to Uddhav Thackeray in 2020, alleging a conspiracy behind the 2018 violence.
Uddhav Thackeray submitted an affidavit stating that if such a letter exists, it should be with the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Thackeray suggested that the current chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, and the CMO should be asked for the letter.
The commission is investigating the Koregaon Bhima violence and allegations of a conspiracy by the previous government.
