India's Brown Rice Exports to UK Set to Rise Following FTA
India and the UK have made a deal to trade more easily, which means India will likely sell more brown rice to the UK.
Currently, India already sells a lot of brown rice to the UK.
Because of the deal, Indian rice will become cheaper than rice from other countries.
However, India has to make sure its rice meets the UK's safety standards.
These standards are getting stricter, so India needs to be careful.
In 2024, India exported over $150 million worth of brown rice to the UK.
This new agreement is expected to boost that number even higher.
India's brown rice exports to the UK are expected to increase due to a free trade agreement (FTA).
The FTA could push India's market share in the UK beyond the current 45 percent.
Indian exporters must adhere to the UK's stricter Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) standards.
In 2024, India exported $152.13 million worth of brown rice to the UK, holding a 45.46 percent market share.
The 15 percent Most Favored Nation (MFN) tariff on brown rice will be eliminated for India under the FTA.
