55 Tribal Voters Reject SIR Forms in Bankura
In a village in Bankura, 55 tribal people did not fill out important forms for a process called SIR.
They refused even after the local government and a tribal group tried to convince them.
These people had joined a fake group called Samajwadi Majhi Sarkar, which promised them things like free travel and electricity.
The police arrested the leader of this fake group.
Most other people in the area did fill out the forms, but these 55 did not.
A woman from Odisha came and made it harder to convince them.
55 tribal voters in Muchikata village, Bankura, refused to submit SIR and enumeration forms.
They were enrolled with Samajwadi Majhi Sarkar, an unrecognized organization that made false promises.
The district administration and a tribal front, Bharat Zakat Majhi Parghana Mahal, tried to persuade them.
Bhavendra Marandi, the leader of Samajwadi Majhi Sarkar, was arrested along with two others.
Only two persons in Taldanga Tola, Bandwan, also did not submit their forms.
