US-India Trade Deal Expected in November; India to Import US Agricultural and Dairy Products
The US and India are close to signing a new trade agreement, expected by the end of November.
As part of this deal, India will start importing certain farm products like soyabean and corn from the US, and also some dairy items.
In return, the US will remove some of the extra charges, called penalty tariffs, that were in place.
India is trying to get the best possible prices for these imports by asking for lower tariffs than other countries have.
India's plan for corn is to use it to make fuel.
The issue of India buying oil from Russia is also mostly settled, with India expecting to buy less Russian oil starting now due to US sanctions.
This agreement aims to boost trade between the two countries.
A US-India trade deal is expected to be announced before the end of November.
India will allow duty-free imports of US soyabean, corn, and certain dairy products.
Reciprocal tariffs are being negotiated, with India pushing for rates below 15%.
India plans to use imported US corn for ethanol production.
India's imports of Russian oil are expected to significantly decrease starting in November due to US sanctions.
