Delhi HC upholds acquittal in wife's suicide case
The Delhi High Court has decided that a man named Hamid should not be punished for his wife Nazrin's suicide.
The court said that just because Hamid had an affair, it doesn't mean he made his wife kill herself.
The couple was generally happy, and there was no proof that Hamid asked for dowry or was cruel to his wife.
The court also said that there was no evidence showing that Hamid directly or immediately made his wife want to commit suicide.
The prosecution tried to argue that Hamid's affair was enough to prove cruelty, but the court disagreed and upheld Hamid's acquittal.
Delhi High Court upheld the acquittal of Hamid in his wife Nazrin's suicide case.
The court ruled that an extramarital affair alone is not sufficient to prove abetment to suicide.
The prosecution alleged that Hamid wanted to marry another woman and offered money to his wife to end the marriage.
Hamid claimed that his wife's behavior changed after an abortion, and she appeared depressed.
The court found no evidence of direct instigation or cruelty leading to the suicide.
