Rs 2,000 Notes Worth Rs 5,817 Crore Still in Circulation: RBI Data

The government had special Rs 2,000 bills that were very valuable.

In May 2023, they asked everyone to bring them back to the bank, like returning a special toy.

Most people have returned almost all of these notes.

As of the end of October 2025, there are still some Rs 2,000 notes out there, worth about Rs 5,817 crore.

That's a lot of money, but it's a very small amount compared to all the notes that were printed.

People can still take these notes to the Reserve Bank of India offices or send them by mail to get them exchanged.

The Rs 2,000 notes are still considered real money for now.
