Kamakhya Temple Road Set to Reopen Before Ambubachi Mela
Imagine a road leading to a special temple called Kamakhya, which was closed for fixing.
Now, it's almost ready to open again!
Workers are making the road safer by using steel rods and nets to stop rocks from falling.
They're also planting grass to hold the soil together.
A new bridge is being built to make the road safer too.
People will be able to walk on the road during a festival, but cars will have to wait a bit longer until the bridge is fully ready.
The alternate road to Kamakhya temple, closed for three years for repairs, is set to reopen before the Ambubachi Mela.
The road, built in 2021, was closed in 2022 due to monsoon landslides.
Repair work includes soil anchoring with steel rods and a mesh to stabilize rocky slopes.
Natural reinforcements, like jute and choir mesh with seed plants, are used to prevent landslides.
A 165m bridge is being constructed to bypass a dangerous hairpin bend and will initially be open for pedestrians.
