GVMC Revives Cycling Tracks in Visakhapatnam
The city officials in Visakhapatnam are trying again to make cycling popular.
They want to build special paths for bicycles around a park and along the coast.
Before, they tried to make cycling tracks and even gave out free bikes, but those efforts didn't work out well.
Now, they are making new plans and hope this time it will be successful.
They also want to put up a big national flag near a museum on the beach.
GVMC is planning new dedicated cycle tracks in Visakhapatnam, including a 5-km track around Mudasarlova Park and another along the Radisson Blu–Sagar Nagar corridor.
Previous attempts to promote cycling, such as a 27-km beach corridor track and a 300-metre Smart City track, failed to materialize.
Officials hope the new proposals, along with plans to procure more bicycles, will succeed where past initiatives faltered.
The commissioner emphasized that the Mudasarlova track should be visually appealing, integrating aesthetics with public utility.
The GVMC engineering department has also been asked to prepare estimates for installing a national flag near the TU-142 aircraft museum on Beach Road.
