Delhi Announces Winter Curbs on Construction, Vehicles, Parking
Delhi is making a plan to reduce dirty air during the winter.
Some construction and demolition work will be stopped for parts of the season.
A full construction ban will happen from December 10 to January 20.
Older vehicles from outside Delhi will not be allowed to enter.
Drivers will need valid pollution certificates to buy fuel.
Parking will become more expensive, and some workers will work from home.
The city will add more electric buses to encourage public transport.
Roads will be cleaned more often, and teams will try to stop people from burning garbage.
Heated spots will be created so people do not burn wood, coal, or other materials for warmth.
Dust-generating demolition and outdoor construction will be prohibited from November 1 to January 31, with a complete ban from December 10 to January 20.
Non-BS-VI vehicles registered outside Delhi will be barred from entering the city from November 1.
Parking charges will double, while staggered office hours and 50% work-from-home arrangements will be introduced.
The government will strengthen the No Fuel, No PUCC rule, inspect end-of-life vehicles, and check around 2.5 lakh vehicles for fitness.
Measures also include adding 150 electric buses, deep-cleaning roads, preventing garbage burning, and creating heated winter spots.
