BJP Corporator Removed from Vadodara Standing Committee
A man named Bandish Shah, who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and represents Ward 7 in Vadodara, has been removed from the city's standing committee.
This happened because he didn't attend any meetings for two months in a row.
The rules say that if someone doesn't attend meetings for that long without a good reason, they can't be on the committee anymore.
Bandish Shah said he was busy taking care of his sick father, who is 91 years old and had a stroke.
He claims he told the committee about his absence, but they still removed him.
The city officials say it was just following the rules.
Now, his seat on the committee is empty.
Bandish Shah, a BJP corporator from Ward 7 in Vadodara, was removed from the standing committee due to prolonged absence.
Shah last attended a meeting on September 20, 2025, and did not attend any meetings for two consecutive months.
The removal was based on Section 22 of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949, which mandates removal for unauthorised absence.
Shah claims he informed the committee about his absence due to his father's failing health and recent hospitalisation.
The Municipal Secretary stated that the removal was a procedural requirement as per the Act.
