Maharashtra SEC Allows Offline Nomination Forms for Local Polls
Imagine you want to run for a local government job in Maharashtra, like a mayor or a council member.
At first, the election office only let people sign up online.
But many people and political groups said it was hard to do it only online and asked if they could also sign up in person, like in the old days.
The election office listened and said, 'Okay, you can sign up online or in person now!'
They even said people could sign up on the weekend, even though it's usually a holiday, until 3 PM.
The last day to sign up is November 17th at 3 PM.
Maharashtra SEC now allows offline submission of nomination forms for local elections.
This adds to the existing online filing system for municipal council and nagar panchayat polls.
Nomination papers will be accepted on Saturday (Nov 15) and Sunday (Nov 16) until 3 PM, despite being public holidays.
The decision was made after requests from political parties, including Congress, for an offline option.
The final deadline for submitting nomination papers and affidavits is 3 PM on November 17.
