India Becomes Claude AI’s Second‑Largest Market
India is the second biggest user of Claude.ai, a chatbot made by Anthropic.
Most people who use it are software engineers and students in big tech cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi.
They ask the bot to write code, solve hard problems and help with school work.
On average, a task that would normally take almost four hours is finished in about fifteen minutes, which is a huge time saver.
Even though many people in India use the bot, it isn’t used by most citizens; it’s mainly a professional tool, so India ranks low when you look at usage per person.
India accounts for 5.8% of all Claude.ai conversations, second only to the United States.
Four states—Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Delhi—contribute over half of India’s Claude.ai traffic.
Indian users focus on software development (45.2% of tasks) and education, with less personal use.
Average Indian users achieve a 15‑fold speedup, completing tasks that would take 3.8 hours in 14.8 minutes.
India ranks 101st per capita, showing a narrow, professional‑focused adoption rather than widespread consumer use.
