Sandeep Sharma Criticizes Debate Over Shreyas Iyer's T20I Captaincy
Some people are talking about whether Shreyas Iyer should be the captain of the Indian T20I cricket team.
Cricketer Sandeep Sharma doesn't think it makes sense to compare Iyer's success as a captain in the IPL to the Indian team.
He says the IPL is a different league with different players than the international team.
Iyer has led his teams to the finals in IPL but did not make the India team for the Asia Cup 2025.
Sharma believes that the captain of the Indian team needs to be chosen based on different criteria than the captain of an IPL team.
Sandeep Sharma criticizes the debate around Shreyas Iyer replacing Suryakumar Yadav as India's T20I captain.
Iyer led two different IPL teams to the finals, winning with KKR.
Iyer scored over 600 runs in IPL 2025.
Iyer was not selected for India's squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
Sharma argues IPL experience is not the main criterion for international captaincy.
