Maharashtra Panel To Frame Policy For Pre-2011 Encroachments

Maharashtra Panel To Frame Policy For Pre-2011 Encroachments

The Maharashtra government wants to decide whether some old homes built on government land can be officially recognised.

A new committee will study homes in Mumbai, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The homes must have existed before January 1, 2011.

The committee will look at land owned by both the state and the central government.

These three cities were not covered by an earlier state policy.

Officials from local governments, land offices and housing agencies will join the committee.

The panel will also study existing housing and slum-rehabilitation rules.

It has three months to suggest a complete policy.
