Andhra Pradesh Prepares Plan to Address Godavari Delta Flooding
The Godavari delta can experience flooding, so officials are preparing a plan to help manage water.
Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu discussed the work at a review meeting.
A survey using LiDAR technology has helped officials prepare a detailed project report.
The survey cost ₹13.4 crore.
Plans for modernisation have been proposed for the eastern and central parts of the delta.
Officials are also being asked to estimate the cost of work in the western delta.
The proposed work includes cleaning drains, strengthening bunds and repairing old water-control structures.
Officials are also to plan dredging near where the river meets the sea.
Once the reports are ready, they will be shown to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as officials seek the needed funds.
