Telangana HC Allows Karnataka, Andhra Teams in National Band Competition
The Telangana High Court has allowed two school teams, one from Karnataka and one from Andhra Pradesh, to participate in the National School Band Competition held in New Delhi for Republic Day celebrations.
The schools had initially been disqualified when the Union Ministry of Education cancelled the results of the state-level competitions without giving any reasons or a chance to explain.
The court said this was unfair and that children should be encouraged to take part in such events.
The court decided that the teams should be allowed to compete, as it would be good for the children and the spirit of Republic Day.
The Telangana High Court allowed two schools from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to participate in the National School Band Competition in New Delhi.
The Union Ministry of Education had cancelled the initial results of the state-level competitions without providing reasons or a hearing.
The court ruled that the cancellation was arbitrary and illegal, violating Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution.
The court emphasized the importance of including children in national celebrations and encouraged their participation.
The competition is being conducted by the Department of School Education and Literacy in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence.
