Bihar CM Reviews Floods, Plans Stronger Ganga Embankments

Bihar is facing serious flooding as water levels in the Ganga rise.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary visited Begusarai to see the affected areas.

He asked officials to quickly provide food, healthcare, transport and other help.

He said about 20 lakh cusecs of water was flowing through the Ganga.

About 5.5 lakh cusecs had also been released into the Sone River from the border.

The government wants to repair and strengthen the Ganga’s embankments.

It may also build ring embankments and new structures called spurs to control the water.

The chief minister later surveyed flooded areas near Bhagalpur and Naugachia by air.

He told officials not to delay rescue and relief work.
