City Vitality Index Tracks India’s Evolving Urban Economies
Imagine a report card for Indian cities, showing how well their economies are doing.
This report, called the City Vitality Index, uses satellite data to track things like how many people are visiting and how much business is happening.
Prayagraj, where the Maha Kumbh Mela happened, saw a huge jump in its score because lots of people came to visit.
While some big cities like Mumbai are doing well, smaller cities like Sonipat and Kasganj are also growing quickly, thanks to new roads and other developments.
Dun & Bradstreet released the City Vitality Index (CVI) for Q2 2025, assessing economic activity in Indian urban areas.
Prayagraj jumped 38 positions in CVI ranking due to the Maha Kumbh Mela, boosting tourism and local commerce.
Ahmedabad claimed the top spot among metros, while Mumbai slipped to fifth place.
Sonipat's CVI score has steadily grown due to Delhi Metro expansion.
Kasganj and Kishanganj saw significant gains from new highway construction, improving connectivity.
