Bail Denied in Zubeen Garg Murder Case
In the Zubeen Garg murder case, a court in Guwahati rejected the bail applications of three accused: Amritaprava Mahanta and two bodyguards, Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora.
The court decided this after hearing arguments from both sides.
The prosecution argued that the bodyguards misused money meant for Zubeen Garg's safety and that Amritaprava was an active conspirator.
The court agreed, saying the allegations were too serious to grant bail.
The prosecution also wants to attach properties linked to the accused.
Garima Saikia Garg, Zubeen's family member, was happy with the decision and said she will fight for justice.
The next hearing is on February 13.
A separate inquiry in Singapore ruled out foul play, stating that Garg was severely intoxicated and had drowned after declining a life jacket.
Bail rejected for Amritaprava Mahanta and bodyguards Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora in Zubeen Garg murder case.
Court accepted prosecution's arguments citing serious allegations of criminal conspiracy and financial misappropriation.
Prosecution argued that bodyguards misused funds meant for Zubeen Garg's safety and care.
Amritaprava Mahanta was described as an active conspirator, not a peripheral figure.
Court set February 13 for hearing new defence petitions and February 16 for arguments on objections raised by a business partner.
