India Considers Visa-on-Arrival for Medical Tourists from US, Europe
Imagine India wants to be a super-popular place for people from countries like America and Europe to come for doctor visits and treatments.
The minister, Piyush Goyal, said India might start giving special 'come right in' visas, like a welcome pass, to these medical visitors.
This would make it easier for them to travel to India for healthcare.
However, the minister also said it's very important that India doesn't forget its own people.
So, while welcoming visitors, Indian hospitals must still make sure that Indians get the best healthcare too.
It's like sharing your toys fairly!
He also suggested that hospitals could have a small number of foreign patients and use some of the money earned to help sick people in India who need it, like through the Ayushman Bharat program.
India is considering offering visa-on-arrival or e-visa facilities for medical tourists from the U.S. and European countries.
The proposal was made by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal at the CII's annual health summit.
The move aims to make India a more accessible and attractive destination for international medical treatment.
Minister Goyal emphasized the need to maintain an inclusive healthcare model, ensuring local citizens are not deprived of quality treatment.
Hospitals might be allowed to treat up to 10% foreign nationals, with a portion of revenue supporting domestic health initiatives like Ayushman Bharat.
