Beijing Plans $53.64 Billion Capital Boost for Financial Institutions

China plans to give several large banks and insurers more money.

The total planned capital increase is up to 360 billion yuan.

The government will provide most of the money by selling special bonds.

The money can help the institutions handle risky loans and continue lending.

It may also reduce pressure on their profits from offering inexpensive credit.

China is making this move because people and businesses at home are not spending as strongly as before.

Strong exports have not fully made up for that weakness.

Agricultural Bank of China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China are set to receive the largest proposed amounts.

This follows a separate 520 billion yuan injection into four major state banks in 2025.
